Chai's Camping Trip 2007
Chai journeyed to Promised Land State Park in Pike County, Pennsylvania, for a few days over the fourth of July holiday. But Chai is a bit spoiled, you know, so she had to make a few modifications to the normal camping excursion.
First, she was only a day camper. After a long day in the park hiking, swimming, and socializing, she headed back to her hotel room for a nice bath and a snooze in a queen sized bed of her own with lots of pillows.
Second, she couldn't sit on the ground -- oh no! She had a special doggie cot to lay on while we spent time around the campfire. One night that wasn't even good enough--she must have been exhausted because she insisted on going into her Grandma's R.V. to lay on the couch while everyone else was outside around the fire.
Last, she ate like she was on vacation. We went for ice cream at the lake store twice and she got her own child's cup of vanilla soft-serve. She got a hot dog each night around the fire. She got bacon for breakfast. She even worked a pork chop, steak, and a hamburger. She ate good!
Her favorite things to do were hiking in the woods (even when we would hide on her and she would come running back to find us). She liked walking along the streams and romping in the creeks. A row boat ride proved most interesting because all C-Dawg wanted to do was bite at the lilly pads (no one told her about the state park rules about not hurting the vegitation). Most of all she liked swimming in the lake, though.

After three days she became exhausted. On the day we were to leave, she didn't want to get up from her hotel bed. Everytime I looked at her she would close her eyes and pretend to be sleeping and as soon as I looked away she would open them again, as to say, "I'm sleeping, too tired, leave me be."
She spent a whole day sleeping when we returned just to recover from all of that fun. I bet she'll be ready to do it again next year, though.
