Busy Toys
Stimulate your dog's mind and stomach.
My dog, Chai, really likes busy toys. Busy toys are what I call the dog toys that you fill with treats and the dog has to figure out how to get the booty.
Busy toys come in a few styles. Some are round, ball-like, treat keepers that the do
g has to roll around and the treats fall out a hole. Some are hard rubber that the dog has to bend and chew to get to the prize. I've seen others that have a mouse maze inside the keeper to make the dog work extra hard bouncing and rolling the toy around to get the treat.
I've owned both the hard and soft busy toys. I prefer the soft. The hard toys are very loud and can cause wall marks if your dog is very enthusiastic about playing and getting to the treat. The softer models are much more quiet giving the dog stimulation and me a time out.
At Pretentious Pooch, we sell the Canine Genius toy. This is a hard rubber busy toy that can be as simple or complex as your dog needs. It comes in a small and a larger to match your dog's breed and an array of colors. The Canine Genius is designed so that one fits tightly into another so the puzzle can become more complex.
No matter what style you choose, I'm sure you will find that a busy toy is a fine addition to any food-driven dog's toy box. It gives them some thinking time and you some relaxation.
